The beautiful, small village is surrounded by olive trees and carob trees at the southern roots of Psiloritis and probably owes its name to its location. Today there are no permanent residents in the settlement.
The church of Agios Panteleimon, which was built during the Venetian period on the ruins of an older church, is located in the center of the settlement. The small church of Agia Fotini, located a little further south, also belongs to the same period, but it is preserved in a dilapidated state.
