Lower Faucet (Fourfouras)
Lower Faucet (Fourfouras)
The traditional village faucet is preserved in the western part of the settlement, which was recently restored with EU funds. On the front of the faucet, you can see the relief inscription with the date 1892, and in the lower part the array of troughs used for washing clothes or for watering animals.
According to tradition, around the area of Lower Faucet, where there is a spring, the village was moved from its original location of Kalota, which was located at a higher point. This location provided easy access to drinking water, while at the same time, it was not visible from the coast and was thus more protected from the Saracens.
