Lampiotes
Lampiotes
Lampiotes village is located at an altitude of 340 meters in a green location with running water, about 20 km southeast of the Amari Dam Reservoir.
It is a beautiful settlement, which still preserves elements of traditional architecture. Some old stone houses can be found here today but most of them are in ruins. Entering the village from the east, the visitor first encounters the single-room, vaulted church of Agios Nikolaos with its ornate facade, inside which frescoes from the middle of the 15th century are preserved to this day. Of particular interest is also the frescoed cemetery church of Panagia south of the village, which preserves remarkable fresco decoration from the 14th century.
The village’s traditional festival takes place every year on July 15, the feast day of Agios Kirikos.
