Holy Church of Christ the Savior (Meronas)
Holy Church of Christ the Savior (Meronas)
The small late Byzantine church dedicated to Christ the Savior is located a short distance southwest of the village of Meronas. It was built in the single-aisled vaulted temple type around the middle of the 14th century, on top of the ruins of an older one, and was extended to the west during the 16th century. The monolobe bell tower on the facade, above the entrance to the church, is a 19th-century addition.
The fresco decoration inside, is preserved very fragmentarily only on its eastern wall.
