Church of Saint Anthony (Veni)

Church of Saint Anthony (Veni)

Above the village of Voliones, on the eastern side of the Veni hill, the cavernous Church of Agios Anthony – a share of the Arkadi Monastery – is preserved. The remains of the cells documenting the presence of monks in previous periods are preserved around the church. You can get there by following either a dirt-concrete road that starts from the village of Voliones, or a path that passes by a green route with a wonderful view.

An ossuary with skulls of the monks has been placed inside the Temple, which is carved into the rock. The first known written testimony comes from a Venetian document (notary deed) of 1627.
