Cave of Pan

Cave of Pan

The cave of Pan is located on the eastern side of the Platanias Gorge. It was named so, because according to a local legend, the ancient god Panas, who is considered the patron of livestock, was born there. Inside the cave, there are petroglyphs that date back to the Minoan period and suggest that the site had a cultic significance even back then.
