The small village is located in a very beautiful location with a wonderful view, between the settlements of Lochria and Platanos. According to tradition, Ardaktos owes its name to a wooden spindle built by a resident of the village for the factory of Lochria, while another version claims that it is due to the ardaktylina, a herbaceous plant that abounds in the area.
The village was probably inhabited in the Byzantine period, during which the temple of the Zoodochos Pigi was also built. During the Turkish occupation, only Turks lived in Adraktos and in the neighboring villages.
