Archaeological Sites
The beginnings of human presence in Amari are lost over the centuries. Archaeological investigations in the area have brought to light remains of settlements dating back to the early Minoan era, demonstrating the centuries-old history of this place. Ancient Syvritos, the most important city of Crete that flourished during the Roman period, the Minoan settlement at Apodoulou, and the Minoan center of Monastiraki, are archaeological sites worth visiting.
